gencoupe6284 Decent entry level sports coupe November 20, 2017 base
Overall Score
decent car, nothing special has its own problems, like most cars. ive had trouble with the flywheel and clutch, other than that the car ride and runs great with very little done too the car. Ive had multiple small issues with creaking and cheaply made parts within the car but nothing that effects performance too any extreme. as state earlier handful of small problems like most cars these days nothing incredibly expensive. for the rice of a Honda civic it was a no brainer to purchase the genesis coupe over the cars in its price range/

Issue: On certain vehicles, brake fluid could leak into the control module for the antilock brake system (ABS) and cause it to short circuit. Note: This recall replaces recall R0246 (Transport Canada recall number 2023-527). For the Sonata model, only the Sonata Hybrid model is affected by this recall. Safety Risk: A short circuit could create a fire risk, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off. Corrective Actions: Hyundai will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the fuse for the ABS module. Hyundai recommends that you should park your vehicle outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed.

Issue: Hyundai is conducting a special service campaign that provides anti-corrosion treatment to certain underbody components. Over time, components under the vehicle, including brake lines could corrode. If this happens, a brake line could fail and leak. A brake fluid leak can result in reduced braking. Safety Risk: Reduced braking can cause an extended stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Hyundai will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the underbody, including the brake lines. The dealer will apply an anti-corrosion treatment to certain parts, and replace the brake lines if necessary.

Issue: On certain cars, the bolts that attach the driver-front airbag may not be tightened correctly. As a result, the airbag could become loose. If you continue to operate the vehicle with a loose airbag, it may detach from the steering wheel. Safety Risk: An airbag that is loose or detaches from the steering wheel could create an increased risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Hyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your car to a dealer to inspect the driver-front airbag mounting bolts and tighten them, if necessary.

On certain vehicles, objects or debris located under the front passenger seat could contact the electrical connector of the Occupant Classification System (OCS) and disconnect the connector if the seat is moved. This would disable the OCS and illuminate the instrument cluster Air Bag warning lamp. If the OCS is disabled, the first stage front passenger airbag would deploy in a frontal collision, regardless of the weight and size of the front passenger seat occupant. If the seat were to be occupied by a child seat or small statured occupant, it could increase the risk of injury. Additionally, this condition could cause the second stage of the frontal passenger airbag to fail to deploy during a crash, which could increase the risk of injury to the front passenger seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will secure the OCS connector to prevent it from being disconnected.

On certain vehicles equipped with manual transmissions, the mounting bolts securing the rear differential may not have been properly fastened due to the suspension’s rear crossmember and differential. Over time, the bolt(s) may loosen, and could cause the driveshaft to separate from the differential, which would result in excessive noise and loss of motive power, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect, and affect repairs as necessary.

On certain vehicles, the stop lamp switch may fail and cause intermittent operation of the brake lights. Failure of the brake lights to illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the switch.
